Mental Wellness Program

Mental wellness comprises of the behavior, thinking capability, or emotional wellbeing of a person. As per statistics, 1 out of every 6 Indian suffers from some major or minor mental disorders that require expert intervention. Mental illness can affect any age group and any strata of the society. It majorly affects people between 30–49 yrs of age or over 60 yrs. Like adults, children and adolescents are also affected with mental health disorders which interfere with the way they think, feel and act. When untreated, mental health disorders can lead to school failure, family conflicts, drug abuse, violence and even suicide.

Early signs

  • Withdrawal - lack of interest in social activities and regular isolation from family & friends
  • Drop in functioning - growing inability to manage daily activities leading to constant decline in one’s performance at work, school or other activities
  • Problems thinking - problems with concentration, memory or logical thought and speech that are hard to explain
  • Increased sensitivity - heightened sensitivity to sights, sounds, smells or touch. Avoiding over-stimulating situations
  • Feeling disconnected - a vague feeling of being secluded from oneself or one’s surroundings.
  • Illogical thinking - unusual or exaggerated beliefs about personal powers to understand meanings or influence events. It can vary fromillogical to‘magical' thinking
  • Nervousness - fear or suspiciousness of others or a strong nervous feeling
  • Sleep or appetite changes - persisting change in eating habits such as increased hunger or lack of appetite
  • Mood changes - extreme& uncontrollable mood changes from extreme ‘highs’ to ‘lows’
