Hectic schedules and fast-paced life are leaving citizens vying for maintaining good health. Up to 50,000 Mumbaikars with the idea of improving their health visited the ‘dna health and wellness show’, at Inorbit Mall in Malad on Sunday.
Healthspring’s family health experts were providing free check-ups for blood pressure, blood sugar, body mass index measurements. Tulsidas Parkar (37) was taken aback when he realised that his blood pressure was skyrocketing at 153 hg/mm. “Before getting a check-up done here, I was not aware that I suffered from high BP.”
It is important for people to undergo preventive health check-ups. Another 30-year-old male who was checked up realised that his blood sugar levels were shooting up to 300 units — much above the normal level,” said Abhijit Shelar, senior executive, Healthspring.
45-year-old Alka Bhatia, a resident of Malad, is the business head of a Telecom-related company. Due to long hours spent sitting she has developed backache. Dr Priyanka Shukla from Ayushakti Ayurved Health Treatments, checked Alka’s pulse and picked up the problem. “I suggested Alka to go for external and internal detoxification treatments to release the back stiffness,” said Dr Shukla.
“Ayurveda is helpful and does not have side effects. I vouch by it and would not mind taking shirodhara and other treatments,” said Alka. “We have been getting many queries for weight control, skin and hair problem,” said Dr M Rahman of Nash Homeoplex.
Healthcare providers like Ayushakti Ayurved, Nash Homeoplex, Dr Tvatcha, Healthspring were present at the show. Mickey Mehta’s 360 wellness temple demonstrated effective workouts and provided fitness consultation. Hush furnitures demonstrated music pillows and duvets as well as mattresses suitable to the climate of Mumbai. Trivector Biomed had on display ‘Novaerus,’ an air infection control unit. Other participants included Medifeet, Dr Tvatcha and Star Health Products.
